Gibraltar National Day Touch 2009

WINNERS
The inaugural Gibraltar touch rugby tournament took place this year at Victoria stadium, Gibraltar. POH put together a good team with debut for Albert Loddo of the Gibraltar team. It was a great day and POH put some good touch rugby together seeing off a Gibraltar Veteran team and a Gibraltar team before playing the evening final under floodlights.
It was a great evening of Rugby and POH were run away winners in the extended final to take the trophy.
Presentations were made on GBC television and some coverage in the local press was also given. We were also awarded the rugby trophy at this years Gibraltar National Day presentations taking the first rugby prize ever awarded in Gibraltar.

Gibraltar Rock 7's 2008

P.O.H’s inaugural tournament was, suitably, the first Gibraltar Rock sevens tournament featuring teams from Gibraltar and from various spanish divisions. P.O.H came together well in the opening games before a crunch game against Spanish division one side Club de Rugby Atletico Portuense. A very strong and committed performance meant a well earned 15-5 victory which left P.O.H winning the group. In the semi final the P.O.H team were drawn against local club side Gibraltar RFC. P.O.H came away as comfortable winners in what was an extremely physical game. In the final P.O.H faced the spanish side from Puerto Santa Maria again, who had beaten Marbella in their semi-final. Unfortunately, the effort from the semi final took it’s toll and P.O.H went down 12-7 in a well contested but ultimately dissapointing final. The dissapointment went out of the window at approximately 3am when the P.O.H boys took apart local clubs culminating in an extraordinary poledancing virtuoso from top try scorer Jakey Coates (10).

Special thanks should go out to the two most junior members of P.O.H, Stonyhurst’s Albert Isola (the Jackal) and Nick Isola (the headboy) who put in a huge effort and were instrumental in the teams performance. Also a thanks to Dipo Alli for sorting out much of the P.O.H kit, and the extraordinarily tight underarmour stash. ouch...
